Is Internet Marketing Just a Bunch of Hype?

So many skeptics out there cry foul about internet marketing opportunities, and, I'll be the first to admit, there are tons of products out there being pitched by scam-artists. Many are directed at those who are hungry to make money online. In fact, it just may be one of the biggest markets on the Internet, if not the biggest.
But that doesn't mean all opportunities are scams, and convincing yourself of that is a surefire way to give up quickly. So how can you know for sure?
Well, I'll tell you one way you can know for sure. There are people out there doing it—that's how. Are you really going to sit there and tell me that no one is making money online? Listen, people who say it cannot be done are people who cannot do it for themselves.
But that doesn't mean it can't be done.
You want proof it can be done—look at all the people getting rich selling products to people like you. That's just an example to get your attention, but look around—there are tons of other niches being catered to and selling products online. Some huge ones are weight loss, personal development, home business, and dog care.
And if others are doing it, than so can you. Find out who is out there actually getting results and do what they're doing (without being one of the scammers).
In fact, that's the number one way to prove it to yourself. I have personally made money online, so I know it's true for myself. This doesn't do much for you because we don't know each other yet, but I'll tell you right now that there's no better way to prove to yourself that internet marketing is not a scam than to wake up one morning and see $200 sitting in your PayPal account.
So there's the key—prove it to yourself.
Find one simple strategy that doesn't cost you money—or doesn't cost much. Find one person who has had success and has written about but without a bunch of hype tossed in.
I'm not telling you to quit your day job or go tell all your friends and family you are going into the IM business. Keep it quiet. Keep your job. For now, just make this your small side hobby—albeit a serious one.
Put 2 highly focused hours every day into your one strategy—don't get sidetracked by all the millions of other ideas out there—just focus on the one. Work on it and work on it and work on it until you prove to yourself without a doubt it doesn't work.
And guess what—you're probably going to get hooked on your new hobby in the process. But the best day is going to be when that one sale hits your account and you sit back and say, hey, this stuff does work. Keep focusing energy there. Go learn some more skills to make what you're doing effective.
Before you know it you could be making a killing off something other people don't even believe is real.
