If you are planning on selling e-books then there are certain areas that you will need to focus on. One of the most important areas is the selling medium. How do you propose to sell you e-book? There are two elements: you will need to have a marketing strategy and you will need to have website space.
First things first, you should go ahead and book a domain and take up web space so that you can sell your e-book over the internet. You need to work on a cover page that will provide insight into the e-book and help your readers in taking a decision. You can include graphs and paragraphs from some of the chapters from your e-book in order to create a good impact. When prospective customers go through the information provided on the cover page, they will be able to relate it with their immediate requirement.
The second important focus area for selling e-books is the price factor. You can follow two methods: charge a high price and gradually offer discounts as the e-book starts selling. Alternatively, you can start with a no loss - no gain price policy till the time your e-book starts to sell in bulk quantities where you can make the profit.
Since you will be selling e-books online, you should be able to offer different modes of payment like PayPal, Credit Cards, Clickbank, and others. The more modes of payment you offer to the customer, the higher the probability of the sale of an e-book.
